授業概要 |
This course explores the intersections of gender and development from multidisciplinary perspectives. It examines how gender norm is shaped by historical, social, economic, cultural, political and development processes in different contexts. Key themes include gender equality and development policies. By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. understand key concepts and theories related to gender and development 2. analyze the role of gender in shaping global development policies 3. examine sex disaggregated data 4. research case studies focusing on specific gender issues in various cultural and regional contexts. Pre-learning: The class alternates between the teacher's lectures and student groups’ thematic research presentations. After each lecture, students are assigned to present a thematic research topic and facilitate discussion in the next class. Those who are assigned for presentation are required to prepare before the class accordingly. It is recommended to dedicate approximately 3 hours to pre-class research presentation preparation. Post-learning: After each class, students are expected to submit comments demonstrating their understanding of class lecture. The next class will begin with a recap based on the students' comments. Approximately one hour is recommended for post-class self-learning. Our university limits one credit unit to 45 hours of study time. Please conduct pre- and post-learning according to the needs of each class. |

評価方法 |
The overall grade will be decided based on class assignments (25%), group work presentation & discussion (25%), end-term report (25%), and oral-exam (25%). Failure to complete assignments or attend at least 2/3 of the entire classes may jeopardize the overall grade. | ||

In case a drawing is performed, the class attendance sheet will be used (this means that those who missed the first class will not be able to participate in the drawing). 2) Those who are interested in signing up for this course are strongly recommended to first enroll in Class 3 45340000 (社会共生論演習) 3) This course focuses on gender within the context of international development, but does not cover topics related to contemporary LGBTQ+ issues. 4) For a smooth execution of the class group work, whoever misses the class consecutively may be asked not to participate in the group work. 5) The class alternates between the teacher's lectures and student groups’ thematic research presentations. For a smooth execution of group’s research work, whoever misses the class consecutively may be asked not to join a group. It is perquisite for the students to attend each class with high spirit to comprehend the issues and share one unique idea with class mates for active discussion and exchange purpose. More details of the class contents and grading will be explained at the first class. |

授業計画 |
This course will be taught in English. The class uses active learning method that applies participatory approach including discussion and presentation. During the class, students will be required to share knowledge and one’s own idea logically based on evidence. All the students are expected to be open to different idea and apply constructive approach but not ‘right and wrong’ approach. As learning about the gender issues are not limited to class room, all those who take this course is expected to commit to think, question and act outside the class, too.
